Can't not

I can't do it today - am refactoring a single component of the e-commerce thing I'm working on, and trying to get it to work and also be more readable, and it just isn't happening. I think I left my brain at home.

Thank you, Jeeves

After coffee and ice-cream at Gelatomassi - the girls had a birthday party to go to, and Grace opted to hang out with me rather than a bunch of screaming girls - we walked up to Elizabeths, where Grace found an omnibus edition of three of the Jeeves novels for $8. When we got back to the party she was clutching it to her chest like it was treasure.

This is all because she started watching my box set of the Fry and Laurie tv series.

I still can't get over it. I knew that eventually, one day, the girls would grow up to share some of my tastes, but having a nine year old daughter who likes Wodehouse is almost too much to believe.

She has also been enjoying The Diary of a Nobody.

I thought I'd mentioned here that I'm blogging more regularly now on Nannygoat Hill but it seems that I haven't.

In other news: I am now single again but respect for the privacy of all concerned means I'm not blogging about it any more than to say that it was an amicable parting and I'm still getting used to the way things are now.

Sticks head above parapet

Too much stuff has been happening in my personal life that I don't care to blog, for me to have been blogging lately.

Anyway. I went to the Easter Show on Sunday, for the first time since it moved to Homebush, where it now takes place inside the cover of an old science fiction magazine:

Kings Cross moment

9:40pm. A knot of men, late commuters, spills out of the train station onto the wet footpath. A SCANTILY CLAD GIRL approaches from upstream.

SCG: "Hello, boys! It's raining MEN!"

Nannygoat Hill

Here's my new blog: Nannygoat Hill

I'll still keep this one as a way of maintaining a toehold in lj-space and keeping up with my friendslist. The idea is that Nannygoat Hill will be more focussed on writing and literature than this blog.

My chatty rambly blogging might still happen here, although it's been happening so little lately that who knows.
